EU proposes new one-year delay to anti-deforestation rules

The European Union is considering a second one-year postponement of its anti-deforestation law, now slated for implementation at the end of this year. Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall cited concerns about the readiness of the IT system supporting the law, fearing disruptions for European businesses. This announcement follows a free trade agreement with Indonesia, a vocal critic of the deforestation legislation.
