Environment ministry proposes new rules for faster air and water pollution complaint resolution
The environment ministry issued draft rules to expedite resolution of air- and water-pollution complaints through adjudicating officers, skipping lengthy court processes. The move aims for faster compliance, augmented by 'presenting officers' reporting to state adjudicators. Exemptions for non-polluting industries from prior operational consent were also proposed. Public feedback is sought within 60 days.
